What Happens If I’m Late for My Photography Session?

Life happens, and sometimes, being late is unavoidable. At Kidi Photography by Ella, I completely understand that unexpected events can disrupt even the best-laid plans. I’m fortunate that most of my clients usually arrive a few minutes early, allowing us to start the session calmly and without any rush. However, arriving late for your session can significantly impact the experience and the final results. However, arriving late for your session can significantly impact the experience and the final results. Let’s explore why arriving on time is so important and what happens if you’re running late.

Why Timing Matters

The time allocated for your session is carefully planned to ensure a relaxed and enjoyable experience. Whether it’s a newborn shoot in my Wolverhampton home studio or a whimsical outdoor family session, I’ve built these timeframes to allow for creativity, attention to detail, and flexibility. Here’s why arriving on time benefits you:

  • Perfect Poses and Expressions: Especially for newborn and child photography, having sufficient time allows me to gently position your little one, capture natural smiles, and create timeless images without feeling rushed.

  • A Calm and Relaxed Atmosphere: Rushing into a session can create unnecessary stress for both you and your little ones—and for me as your photographer. Starting on time ensures everyone feels at ease.

  • The Best Light for Outdoor Sessions: For outdoor photography, light plays a crucial role. A late start might mean losing the golden hour glow, impacting the overall quality of your photos. Additionally, poses may not be as refined as they would be with a punctual start, and there’s less time to engage, relax, and play with the children, which helps capture their natural personalities.

  • Impact on Studio Sessions: For studio sessions, arriving late affects the variety of setups and poses we can achieve. The time needed for perfecting each scene is reduced, limiting the diversity of your gallery.

  • Tailored Editing and Adjustments: When we have ample time, I can focus on the small details that elevate your gallery, ensuring the final images are polished to perfection.

What Happens If You’re Late?

While I strive to accommodate all my clients, arriving late does present challenges:

  1. Session Duration Is Reduced: If you’re late, we’ll have less time for your session. This means fewer poses, limited setups, and potentially fewer images to choose from.

  2. Impact on Quality: Working in a rush limits my ability to refine poses and adjust setups, which can affect the overall quality of your gallery. My priority is always to deliver stunning photos, and time constraints make this more difficult.

  3. Cancellation Policy: As outlined in my Terms & Conditions, sessions may be cancelled if you arrive more than 20 minutes late. While I rarely enforce this rule (it has only happened a handful of times in nine years of business), it is especially important for mini sessions, where a tight schedule leaves no room for delays. In such cases, cancellations are considered the client’s responsibility.

  4. Outdoor Sessions: For outdoor sessions, lateness affects not only your session but also subsequent bookings. To respect all clients’ time, any delay reduces the time I can spend creating your magical moments. Additionally, outdoor lighting conditions are time-sensitive, so a delay might compromise the quality and variety of poses we can achieve.

How to Avoid Issues

To make the most of your session, please aim to arrive on time or even a few minutes early. This ensures we can:

  • Start with a calm and positive mindset.

  • Use the full session time for capturing the best moments.

  • Work together to create a gallery of images you’ll cherish forever.

My ultimate goal is to provide you with an exceptional experience and stunning photographs that you’ll treasure for a lifetime. By arriving on time, you’re not just respecting our schedule—you’re ensuring the best possible results for your investment.

Your photos are more than just images; they are memories of fleeting moments, preserved forever. I pour my heart and soul into each session, striving to create images that you will hold close to your heart for years to come. When you arrive on time, it allows me to give my absolute best—to focus on the details, to catch those tiny smiles, and to tell your unique story with care and artistry.

Thank you for understanding the importance of punctuality in our creative process. I genuinely look forward to welcoming you, capturing your family’s special moments, and turning them into cherished keepsakes. Let’s make magic together!

Love,

Ella x
